February Fiber Guild News

February Fiber Guild Meeting
Laura Mayes will be doing the program in February on Knitted Mitered Squares.  She will be teaching how to knit a basic mitered square and how to attach it while knitting the next square.  She will show some variations with color and texture.  If there is time, she will show some popular finishing techniques for mitered squares.

Anyone interested in this program should bring some worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles, size 7 or 8 are good.  Also, shorter needles are better since we will be working with only 25 stitches at a time.  Variegated or hand dyed yarn lends itself very nicely to this type of knitting particularly with a solid contrast color.

The meeting is scheduled to be Wednesday, 2/13/2008 at 7:00 pm at the Indian Mission

Knitting Guild Info

Some people in the Fiber Guild have expressed an interest in knowing when the knitting guild events are scheduled.  The info below is their next big event.

The Sunflower Knitters Guild will be having their “Knitting in the Heartland” event the first weekend in April on Saturday and Sunday, April 5th & 6th at the Radisson Hotel located at 95th Street and I-35.  Vendors who are interested in a table can contact Teri Steinhaeufel at tplemel@yahoo.com.  The cost is $50 per table.

Thanks!

Laura Mayes

Creative Hand
The meeting was held this past weekend to make deciwsion
Creative Hand is an annual show/sale held the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Our new location at the Sylvester Powell Community Center in Mission has proven to be a successful choice.  This year, our sales were up and our loyal customers had positive comments about the show.

As we look forward to future years and anticipated growth of the Creative Hand show, we will need discussion from the participants and interested parties about that future growth.  Therefore, we will be having our discussion meeting for Creative Hand participants and interested parties on February 2, 2008:
If you want to read the summary of the meeting that was held this past weekend, then contact Sandy Cahill, the document was not able to be sent in this email.

From the editor...
Hope everyone is staying warm and dry! Looking forward to seeing those crocuses pop out soon! On a day like today it seems unlikely and very far away. Keep working on all those great projects and bring them to show off at the next meeting so we can all see what you have been up to.
Debbie
