Celebrating 50 years of sharing fiber-related interests and skills
In celebration of 50 years, the members of the Kansas City Fiber Guild will be displaying and selling their hand-made textile artwork at Images Art Gallery September 17 - October 11, 2025. The gallery is open Wednesdays - Saturdays 10-6. Images Art Gallery is located at 7320 West 80th Street in downtown Overland Park. Parking is on the street near the gallery or in the public parking garage near 81st and Marty.
Twenty one individual fiber artists are participating in the show. Each artist has gathered their best and most creative art works to show and sell at Images Art Gallery. The textile artworks are made using various Fiber Arts Techniques: Hand Woven, Hand Felted, Hand Knitted, Hand Spun, and Hand Dyed. The Artist's hands have created these stunning artworks just for you!
The Guild also sponsors study groups who meet monthly to study in depth certain fiber artis techniques. Two of these study groups each have a collaborative piece on disply at Images Art Gallery.

FELTING STUDY GROUP: "Flint Hills Landscape in Felt" is a collaborative art piece made by 12 guild member artists from the Felting Study Group. Each artist received one section of a Flint Hills Landscape color photograph. Inspired by their section of the photograph, each Artist interpreted their section in felt using various colors of wool. When all 12 Artists were finished, the sections were re-assembled into the collaborative art piece titled "Flint Hills Landscape in Felt". The Felting Study Group has been meeting monthly for over 20 years.

WOOL STUDY GROUP: "Study in Barlycorn Scarf" is a collaborative art piece made by six guild member artists from the Wool Study Group. The yarn for the scarf was Hand Spun and the scarf was Hand Woven by six guild member artists from the Wool Study Group in a Sheep-To-Shawl environment. The group of spinners and a weaver start with a freshly-shorn wool fleece, prep the fiber, spin the yarn and weave the cloth in a race against time. The "Study in Barlycorn Scarf" was completed by a team of 6 in 5 hours. The Wool Study Group has been meeting monthly for over 4 years.

Fiber Technique Demonstration Day is Saturday, September 20, 10-4, Images Art Gallery, 7320 West 80th Street, Overland Park, KS. This fun day will be an educational outreach for Guild members to demonstrate the fiber techniques they use to create their artwork. Guild members will be bringing their equipment and supplies and demonstrating how everything is made. Member Artists will be hand weaving, hand felting, hand knitting, and hand spinning to show you how it's done. Bring the kids, families are welcome to come learn about the textile arts!
